Within the ALPGRIDS project, the University of Genoa has developed a pilot project, called SPEED 2030, for the construction of a Positive Energy District adjacent to the University Campus of Savona, where public spaces and buildings with different uses will be operated to reach a positive annual energy balance.
The project has been developed following the PED guidelines, focusing on the maximization of energy production from renewables and on exploitation of the resources at the district level by using, where possible, microgrid configurations and energy sharing through REC (Renewable Energy Communities). The district will work with an "active" management of energy by means of balancing techniques, optimization, peak shaving, load shifting, demand response and maximization of district-wide self-consumption of electricity and thermal energy.
SPEED 2030 will be an integrated environment of sustainable production, consumption and mobility aimed at reducing the use of primary energy, greenhouse gas emissions and creating added value for the users.
